Fretboard Notation Interactions

The “Notation Interactions” settings let you control how the fretboard and the notation sections interact. In most cases, you can just leave these settings as is but there may be times when you want to change them so let’s go through them real quick.

  1. Play sounds on mouseover - This only applies to computers with a mouse because there is no “mouse-over” event on phones or tablets. With that option is checked, mousing over any of the notes will play them. You can play one at a time or even strum across the notes. DEMONSTRATE and then uncheck the box
  2. Add clicked note to end of staff - When the Add clicked note to end of staff option is checked clicking a note will play that note and add it to the notation. Continuing to click or tap notes will continue to place the new notes at the end of the notation. If you don’t have this option checked, clicking notes will sound them but not add them to the notation.
  3. Highlight staff notes on click - When the Highlight staff notes on click option is checked, on desktop, you can drag-select notes along the fretboard and the note-heads of the matching notes in the notation window will highlight red. If you turn off Add clicked note to end of staff you can click or tap any note on the fretboard to see every instance of that note in the notation window. [CREATE SEQUENCE DEMO IN A POSITION]
  4. Focus riff notes on play - When Focus riff notes on play is checked, playing a riff or stepping through a riff one note at a time will cause all the notes that AREN’T in the riff to be dimmed so you are able to focus your attention on just the notes used in the riff. But, mousing over the fretboard will cause the other notes to reset to full opacity until you play the riff again.

There you have it! That’s the Notation Interactions options!
